Polygomum Chinese is the conventional Chinese medicine, has the high medicine value. But now there is no study about the most suitable growth environment of Polygomum Chinese. In addition, there is no study about the effects on medicinal components of Polygomum Chinese under different conditions of shading. In this study, by researching the effects on growth and medicinal components of Polygomum Chinese under different shading (0%,28.30%,74.68%,94.60%)conditions, aimed at provide the guiding for artificial cultivation of Polygomum Chinese.The results showed that shading promoted the growth of Polygomum Chinese. The Polygomum Chinese from Yuling had the high growth rate of lateral branch, but the Polygomum Chinese from Nanning had the high growth rate of leaves. Compared with the control group’s, Polygomum Chinese had the high growth adaptation under shading conditions of 28.30%, 74.68% and 94.60%. Polygomum Chinese had the most growth rate under 94.60% shading condition.The proper shading increased the dry weight of Polygomum Chinese. The dry weight of Polygomum Chinese under 28.30% and 74.68% shading conditions were significantly heavier than the control group’s. The dry weight of Polygomum Chinese under 74.68% shading condition was the largest. In addition, the dry weight of Polygomum Chinese from Nanning was lighter than the Polygomum Chinese from Yuling.The diumal net photosynthetic rate variation of Polygomum Chinese leaves appeared single peak type. The maximum of the diumal net photosynthetic rate were at 12:00. There were no significantly effects on the diumal net photosynthetic rate variation of Polygomum Chinese leaves under 28.30% shading condition. The diumal net photosynthetic rate of Polygomum Chinese under 94.60% shading condition was significantly smaller than the control group’s. But there were no significantly difference of the diumal net photosynthetic rate between the Polygomum Chinese from Nanning and the Polygomum Chinese from Yuling.With increasing the shading rate, the content of chl a, chl b, chl a+b had the increasing tendency. But the soluble protein content and the soluble sugar content had the decreasing tendency. The shading added the medicinal components of Polygomum Chinese, the Polygomum Chinese under 28.30% shading condition had the most medicinal components. In addition, the Rutin content of the Polygomum Chinese from Yuling significantly higher than the Polygomum Chinese from Nanning.In a word, the Polygomum Chinese under 28.30% condition had the higher dry weight, growth rate, medicinal components and the diumal net photosynthetic rate. The Polygomum Chinese under 74.68% condition had the most growth rate, dry weight. In addition, there were no significantly big difference of medicinal components between the Polygomum Chinese from Nanning and the Polygomum Chinese from Yuling. So the proper shading should be used in the artificial cultivation of Polygomum Chinese.
