These29different populations of Trichosanthes were regarded as materials. Agronomic character-ristics of its fruits, roots, seeds and other medicinal parts were compared systematicly. Meanwhile thecontent of3,29-dibenzoyl Trichosanthes (3,29-DR),crude protein, polysaccharide, flavonoid inTrichosanthes semens, crude protein, polysaccharide, flavonoid in Trichosanthes pericarpium, andcucurbitacin B,starch, crude protein, polysaccharide in Trichosanthes radix were detected andanalysised. Principal component analysis and cluster analysis combining agronomic characteristicsindicators and chemical composition indicators provided a theoretical basic for quality evaluation andbreeding. The main results were as follows:1With the condition of root reproduction and seed propagation, difference of characteristics indexsin different populations of Trichosanthes performed significantly. The maximum length and width ofAnhui Qianshan spindle-shaped Trichosanthes reached10.54cm and8.04cm. The kernel weight ofAnguo Acuminate Trichosanthes and Anguo Haishi Trichosanthes were highest, respectively reaching32.39g and32.37g. Anguo Haishi Trichosanthes’s pericarp thickness and dry weight of single fruitwere up to0.098mm and42.00g. The highest root drying date was39.82%from Shanxi JiangxianTrichosanthes. It was suggested that Anhui Qianshan spindle-shaped Trichosanthes should be regardedas Trichosanthes fructus, Anguo Haishi Trichosanthes as Trichosanthes semen and Trichosanthespericarpium, Shanxi Jiangxian Trichosanthes should be breeding material of Trichosanthes radix.2The difference of3,29-DR content between the different populations of Trichosanthes semenswas signicicant. Henan Anyang kaifaqu Trichosanthes’s3,29-DR content was the highest, reaching138.6476μg mL-1in21kinds of root reproduction, In the condition of seed propagation, Anguo EdgedTrichosanthes’s3,29-DR content was up to148.1773μg mL-1and the highest. Fruits’ maturity and sizecould affect the content of3,29-DR in Trichosanthes semens, the fruit maturity better and the fruit sizesmaller, the content of3,29-DR was higher.3The contents of crude protein, flavonoid and polysaccharide in Trichosanthes semen, Trichosan-thes pericarpium and Trichosanthes radix were significant difference among21populationss ofTrichosanthes for seed propagation. The highest chemical composition indexs of different Trichosanthespopulations were respectively: Henan Anyang wenfengqu Trichosanthes (70.315mg·g-1),ShandongChangqing mashanzhen Trichosanthes(5.861%)and Shandong Juxian zhangjiahe Trichosanthes(0.284%) in Trichosanthes semen; Shanxi houma Trichosanthes (93.200mg·g-1), Hebei AnguoTrichosanthes (1.732%) and Shanxi Jiangxian Trichosanthes (2.164%) in Trichosanthes pericarpium;the content of crude protein and flavonoid in Hebei Anguo Trichosanthes radix were the highest,respectively reaching51.438mg·g-1and10.649%, Yuexi heidapian Trichosanthes radix’s polysaccharidewas up to7.359%, and it was the highest.Trichosanthes semen, Trichosanthes pericarpium and Trichosanthes radix including crude protein,flavonoid and polysaccharide were significant difference among8populationss of Trichosanthes forroot reproduction. The highest chemical composition indexs of different Trichosanthes populations wererespectively: Shijiazhuang Acuminate Trichosanthes (66.982mg·g-1), Anguo Haishi Trichosanthes(3.950%) and-1southern Trichosanthes (0.288%) in Trichosanthes semen; Dahe Acuminate Trichosanthes(63.703mg·g), Anguo edged Trichosanthes (2.164%) and Anguo Haishi Trichosanthes (2.618%) inTrichosanthes pericarpium.4The content of starch and Cucurbitacin B in21populations of Trichosanthes radix wassignificant difference. Henan Anyang beijiaoxiang Trichosanthes had the highest starch content up to23.389%, Hebei Anguo was the lowest. The highest content of Cucurbitacin B reached13.44mg·g-1,which was based on Hebei Anguo Trichosanthes, Shanxi Jiangxian Trichosanthes was the lowest (1.50mg·g-1).5Combining agronomic characteristic indexes and chemical composition indicators of differentpopulations Trichosanthes, Anhui Yuexi heidapian Trichosanthes and Shandong Jinan ChangqingquTrichosanthes should be regarded as Trichosanthes semen for cultivating; Anguo Haishi Tricho-santhes,Anguo Acuminate Trichosanthes and Dahe edged Trichosanthes were used as Trichosanthespericarpium which had a good quality; Dahe haishi Trichosanthes, Anguo edged Trichosanthes andDahe edged Trichosanthes belonged to the high quality Trichosanthes semens.
