In this study, the pilot is in Guangxi Sanmen River forest farm dragon mother station. With11Castanopsis hystrix provenances and24Castanopsis hystrix families as the research object, on growth traits of2year and6year old Castanopsis hystrix analysis. To reveal the genetic variation, growth performance of various provenances, families, screening out the Castanopsis hystrix high quality seed and thoroughbred pedigrees. There is important significance for breeding hystrix provenance, family and the big area promotion. The main results are as follows:1. The2year old and6year old tree height, diameter at breast height of Castanopsis hystrix provenances have significant difference,6year old single volume among provenances significantly difference. And the growth traits of Castanopsis hystrix at age2and6were moderate provenances of genetic control. Of11provenances were the growth of diameter at breast height, tree height, and individual volume data of variance analysis and multiple comparison shows, in the Castanopsis hystrix at age2, Guangxi Ningming is the best, Yunnan, Guangdong Xinyi and Guangxi Donglan is good also, Guangxi Pubei is the worst. In the Castanopsis hystrix at age6, Guangxi Pubei is the best, Guangxi Ningming and Cangwu is good also, and Guangdong Gaozhou is the worst.2. There are3provenances are picked out according to the index of the fast-growing provenances, is Guangxi Pubei,Cangwu,Ningming, and the3provenances of tree height, basal diameter increment and individual volume by comparison of no significant difference. The average tree height of selected provenances is6.51m, the average basal diameter increment is7.05cm, the average individual volume is99.86*10-4m3. Compared with the average genetic gain of tree height, basal diameter increment and individual volume was8.42%,13.84%and22.35%, the average real gain were9.87%,16.28%and35.77%.3. Different families of Castanopsis hystrix at age2and6growth traits are under genetic control of intermediate or above. Different families at age2and6of tree height, basal diameter increment, between different families of high trees and diameter, there were significant differences. Between different families at age6of individual volume, there were significant differences too.. Of24provenances were the growth of diameter at breast height, tree height, and individual volume data of variance analysis and multiple comparison shows, in the Castanopsis hystrix at age2,11010T is the best,17014,17016and15011is good also,17022and11004is the worst. In the Castanopsis hystrix at age6,15008and12006-5is the best, Pulin003,15007,13003and11001is good also, and17014is the worst.4. There are4provenances are picked out according to the index of the fast-growing provenances, they are Pulin003、15007、15008、12006-5, and the4provenances of tree height, basal diameter increment and individual volume by comparison of no significant difference. The average tree height of selected family is6.37m, the average diameter increment is7.11cm, the average individual volume is115.75x10-4m3. And the average value of family average genetic gain compared with the tree height, basal diameter increment and individual volume was5.09%,7.19%and17.49%, the average real gain were7.52%,12.59%and33.81%.
