Gamma-aminobutyric acid(GABA) as an amino acids feed addible is widely used in animal feed, can enhance the feed intake ability o, growth performance and immunity of animals. However, study on GABA used in nursing foals was barely reported at home and abroad. So this study aimed to determine the effects of supplemental GABA on growth performance and blood parameters of YiLi nursing foals., for the application of GABA in nursing foals growth and development to provide the reference data. The animals were chosen 20 YiLi nursing foals which were aged 2~3 months and similar weight. Divided into 4 groups and 5 foals in each groups, there are control group, testⅠ, testⅡ, test Ⅲ. The control group fed with basal diet, the testⅠfed with basal diet and 40 mg/d GABA, the testⅡfed with basal diet and 80 mg/d GABA, the test Ⅲ fed with basal diet and 120 mg/d GABA. In test 0 d, 30 d, 60 d and 90 d at 18:00, 18:30 and 20:00 by line pony jugular vein blood collection, body measurement and weighing. Results show that: the test after 90 d test Ⅱ group and test Ⅲ pony respectively increased by 18.07%(P > 0.05) and 6.02%(P > 0.05)than control group on average daily gain, experiment after 30 d Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ group growing body height than the control group were increased by 11.76%(P > 0.05), 11.76%(P < 0.05) and 43.33%(P < 0.05), experiment after 90 d Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ group growing body height than the control group were increased by 25 %(P < 0.01), 25%(P < 0.01) and 35%(P < 0.01). Blood indicators: in the experiment at 30 d Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ group plasma GH levels were higher than the control group 4.35%(P > 0.05), 10.72%(P > 0.05), 10.43%(P > 0.05), plasma ALB levels higher than the control group 2.79%(P > 0.05), 4.16%(P < 0.01), 1.07%(P > 0.05). In 90 d of the test, the content of NPY in plasma of test Ⅱ higher than the control group 38.03%(P < 0.01), plasma levels of TP 4.58% higher than the control group(P<0.05).Complementary feeding and found from the experiment 0 d to 90 d testⅠ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ group plasma GABA, IgA and IgG levels are showing a rising trend, but no significant change in plasma GAS, SS and BUN levels. The experimental results show that: adding GABA into basal diet of nursing foals have biological function on enhance growth and immune performance, and comprehensive found to the testⅡthat add 80 mg/d GABA is the best group. In addition, the effect of GABA on nursing foals main relation to metabolic regulation of NPY and GH.
