In order to make full use of some remaining resources in the forest like brushwood and save space and time on wood cutting and compression, the author designed a traction type forest wood chiping compressing and packaging machine which can be used for both cutting brushwood and compression. One only needs to move the machine to the forest then cut the brushwood into pieces, compress them into wood rectangular blocks by using the machine and put them into sacks at last, which is both convenient for transportation and saving transportation costs. Study the relevant theory about wood compression and work out the appropriate compression ratio. Using this equipment, one needs to put the wood blocks in sacks, determine the size of compressed wood blocks according to the size of standard sacks and get the volume of uncompressed wood according to the compression ratio. The compression boxes just can hold the certain volume of wood and compressed into the wood. Coming out of the chipper, the wood goes into the storage hopper then into the compression boxes through the belt conveyor. Compressing the wood by using the hydraulic system to provide and control the compressive force.Using the SolidWorks, build a three dimensional model in the process of designing the equipment. Add the material properties in the model, make it more authentic so that it can be used in simulation, and analyze whether the design is reasonable and feasible. Using the Ansys, construct the finite elements model of the key mechanism, analyze the finite elements according to different operating modes, and get the degrees of the deformation and stress as well as their locations, providing the basis for the improvement of garbage compressors. Improve the design of the mechanism and components according to the results of the finite elements analysis. The analysis result after improvement shows that the model meets the demands of stiffness and strength.
