Stellera chamaejasme in Thymelaeaceae is a kind of wild flower, which have the advantage of beautiful flowers, widely distributed, easy to form large groups and so on. This part of the test investigated S. chamaejasme leaves, stems and flowers, summarized its morphological characteristics, and improved the basic research data of it’s morphology properties, where testing in Guyuan grassland of Hebei province. In order to understand the effect of S. chamaejasme spread on soil properties of S. chamaejasme habitat in grassland in suitable area, soil physical and chemical properties, soil microbial biomass, soil enzyme activities in growing and non-growing plots of Guyuan grassland in Hebei province and Haiyan grassland in Qinghai province were measured. The results indicated that:(1)The growth of S. chamaejasmefollowing the "S" curve, plant height, crown width the fastest growth period is the first 6 days to 18 days after turning green. The height is 31.08 cm, width is 33.2 cm in flowering period. The leave is Long 2.03 cm, wide 0.66 cm. The leaves have 3 kinds of color : 191, 192 and 193+1153, and some leaf tip color is 154 according to the 《Color specification for ornamental plant》. S. chamaejasme’s stem color is diversity, and has four kinds: 021, 033, 173, 214.The flowering period of S. chamaejasme community is 30 days, the florescence of single flower was about 15 days. The biggest single flower diameter can reach 3.05 cm in flourishing period. The flower color is divided into: 153, 451 and 053 according to the calyx tube; according to the color of the petals are 181, 425, 433.The color of the flower began to change to 453 and 424 in later full bloom period. The flowering, discolor and litter order are from the outside and inside(2) Soil water content of 0-10 cm soil layer higher than neighboring grassland without S. chamaejasme growth in Guyuan grassland of Hebei, which in May and June increased significantly. Soil bulk density of 20-30 cm layer decreased in Haiyan grassland of Qinghai, which in June is lower significantly. S. chamaejasme had no marked effects on available nitrogen and available potassium content in Hebei Guyuan, while available phosphorus content increased significantly in May and July. Soil organic matter was significantly higher than non-growing area from June to September in Qinghai Haiyan County, and available nitrogen and available potassium content increased in July and August, available phosphorus content higher than neighboring grassland in its growing season. Soil pH is between 7.15~8.24 and 7.5~7.7 in Guyuan and Haiyan grassland respectively. Soil water soluble salt content was 0.7~1.0g/kg and 1.84~2.98g/kg in Guyuan and Haiyan grassland respectively. Soil water soluble salt content was significantly lower than that of the adjacent non growth of S. chamaejasme.Soil microbial biomass carborn, nitrogen and phosphorus increased significantly in S. chamaejasme vigorous growth season(July and August). Activities of soil urease, phosphatase and sucrase increased significantly in the whole growth season; catalase and peroxidase activities were significantly higher than that in non-growing area from May to June, while the significant difference was not observed from July to September in Guyuan grassland of Hebei. On Haiyan grassland, soil catalase, peroxidase activity had no significantly changed compared to the neighboring area from June to August, while reduced significantly in September. Soil phosphatase activity significantly increased from July to September, and sucrase activity increased significantly in July, wherase the activity of soil urease declined(June) first and ascended(August and September). In summary, S. chamaejasme had graceful plant type, brightly flower, rich leaf and stem color and orderly flowering. It could be applied to the the flower beds, flower border, slope greening, and potted plants. It has good application value and development prospects. It has the mechanisms to adapt to the barren, alkali soil, can improve the degree of salinization of the soil, while could improve soil biological activity. It could applid in arid, barren and saline areas, enriching the landscaping materials.
