Our domestic sugar yield is near the top of the world. In our country, sugarcane is not only the main raw material for refining sugar, but also the most important economic crop of the sugarcane planting areas, mainly the South, especially Guangxi and Yunnan. So the yield and harvest efficiency of the sugarcane is particularly important to the economy of the southern region and the development of the sugar industry. If we want to improve the efficiency of sugarcane harvest, we must realize the automation of sugarcane planting and harvesting. The application of hydraulic technology in sugarcane harvester can promote the automation of sugarcane manufacture. Therefore, research and develop a hydraulic control system of sugarcane harvester, which can adapt to the terrain and climatic change of the South. The past and present development situations of sugarcane harvest at home and abroad are analysed in this paper, so is the movement characteristics of sugarcane harvester. According to the working characteristics and structural features of the sugarcane harvester, a schemes with better comprehensive performance is summarized and designed from three sets of design scheme through a scientific evaluation method, which compares the three based on the reliability of the hydraulic system, energy saving, maintainability and efficiency, etc.The working speed of each actuator is determined according to the theoretical calculation and practical experience. Simulation analysis focused on the performance of the load-sensitive and the closed control hydraulic system are conducted. The results of modeling and simulation by AMESim show that the load-sensitive system can adjust the speed of each motor very well, and the speed of the motors are not affected by the load changes and basically remain stable; The performance of the stripping system is optimized by PID controller. The results of combined simulation with AMESim and Matlab/Simulink show that the speed of the stripping motor can track the speed changes of the conveyor motor, and ensure the coordination of work. Finally, the correctness of the simulation model and the feasibility of the scheme of the hydraulic system have been demonstrated through field tests. Meanwhile, a system scheme which is suitable for systems that have several actuators with different loads work simultaneously is designed through studies in this article.
