| To realize whole course mechanization for hybrid rice seed production is one of the important pathways to achieve large scale seed production, reducing cost, releasing labor and increasing farmers’ income. In order to evaluate the advantages of full-processing mechanized hybrid seed production to those of traditional manual seed production, two hybrid rice seed production bases,in Wugang and Shixing were investigated for the costs of grounding, planting, plant protection, harvesting and drying, as well as the economic benefit, social benefit and environmental benefit under these two production models. The results are showed as below.1.The analysis for seed production costs in these two seed productive demonstration bases showed that there was no significant difference between the cost of whole course mechanized seed production, those were 34823.85yuan/hm2 and 31872 yuan/hm2 in Wugang and Shixing respectively, and the cost of conventional seed production, those were 34770 yuan/hm2 and 32032.5 yuan/hm2 in Wugang and Shixing respectively. While, the whole course mechanized seed production lowered labor input significantly compared with manual seed production, alleviated the current labor shortage problem in seed production.2.The investigation for the economic, social and environmental benefits of mechanized seed production and artificial seed production in Wugang and Shixing demonstration bases showed that:The comprehensive benefit under mechanized production model was better than that of artificial seed production. Although there is no significant difference in the production cost, the yield in mechanized model was 225-270kg/hm2 higher than that of artificial seed production, with the result of increasing total economic benefit. At the same time, scale mechanized seed production advantages of easier lead to a decline overall cost, the economic benefits of a substantial increase.Mechanized seed production than manual seed production, social advantages in terms of performance:Firstly, stable hybrid rice seed production area to ensure safe and effective supply of hybrid rice seeds, to ensure national food security. Secondly, improve the efficiency of hybrid rice seed production, effective control of production risk and improve seed quality, promote China’s seed industry sub-industry comprehensive technology upgrade and enhance the core competitiveness of China’s seed industry. Third, it can promote the development of modern agriculture, promote the construction of urbanization in our country, lead to the development of related industries.Mechanized seed production can be realized to reduce pesticide and fertilizer use, reduce the negative effect on the ecological environment, is conducive to the protection of the ecological environment, promote the harmonious development of man and nature advantages such as environmental benefits production can be realized mechanization reduce the use of pesticides, fertilizers, and reduce the negative impact on the ecological environment, conducive to the protection of ecological environment, promoting environmental efficiency advantages of the harmonious development of man and nature.In summary, this study has shown that the technology of mechanized hybrid rice seed production possessed considerable comparative advantages in the cost of production, economic, social and environmental benefits compared with traditional seed production. It is worth promoting and applying vigorously. Meanwhile, the requirements for agricultural machinery tightly combining with agricultural cultivation in the process of seed production, the unit scale of seed production bases and the necessity of specialization of farm machinery socialization service were also discussed in this paper. |
