Articulated tractor is a typical agricultural vehicle that has more intense seat vibration than other vehicles, which causes extremely uncomfortable ride comfort and driver fatigue, irritability, nausea, vomit due to its job site and body’s structure. Therefore, articulated tractor’s ride comfort will be analyzed and optimized by studying its seat vibra tion in this paper.Firstly, the model of the articulated tractor is simplified, and four degrees of freedom vehicle vibration model is established. Then the vehicle vibration different equations are established based on the system energy. The response of the seat vertical vibration is analyzed, while the vehicle ride comfort is evaluated according to the ISO2631-1:1997(E) standard by solving the seat acceleration power spectral density.Secondly, based on the three-dimensional model of the articulated tractor, the virtual prototype model of articulated tractor is completed by established the leaf spring suspension, cab suspension, seat suspension, tires and road surface model in Adams / View. The vibration response of the chair and the seat acceleration power spectrum density is solved through ADAMS simulation. Then the theoretical analysis is compared with the simulation result. According to the analysis result, the ride comfort of the articulated tractor is uncomfortable when the speed is 10 km/h, 20 km/h and 30 km/h. while it is known that the ride comfort is so bad and in need of improvement.Finally, ant colony algorithm is used to improve the articulated tractor ride comfort by optimizing the cab and seat suspension system parameters. The result shows that a significant improvement of the tractor ride comfort is verified, which will provide a theoretical basis for the subsequent production improvement.
