Clinical Effect Evaluation Of Vacuum Sealing Drainage (VSD) In Treating Chronic Ulcer Of Diabetics

Object To investigate the value of vacuum sealing drainage (VSD) in chroniculcer of diabetics, and evaluate the effectiveness of VSD when compare withconventional wound dressing change.Methods60cases of type2diabetics with foot or lower leg chronic ulcerwere randomized divided into the VSD group and the conventional treatmentgroup. Experimental group use VSD-B to continue closed negative pressuredrainage, and control group get strict aseptic surgical dressing change, and useVaseline gauze to cover the cleaning wound.Results1、the time of would from admission to achieve viable second stagesurgery are24~50days(average time28.6±10.3days) in VSD group, and32~58days (average time40.3±10.6days) in conventional treatment group,respectively.2、 VSD can significantly reduce the bacterial infection rate and increase thebacterial culture negative rate of diabetics combine with chronic ulcer wound.3、After the second stage surgery, the effectiveness of VSD on the survival rateof Skin graft or flap is obviously superior to the conventional Sterile dressing.4、the growth of wound granulation tissue in VSD group superior to conventionaltreatment group in the same time.5、compared with the conventional treatment group, the VSD group reduce theworkload and pain of dressing, shorten the time of hospitalization, and cut downthe hospital expense. Conclusion For patients of type2diabetics combine with foot or lower legchronic ulcer, continuous VSD can prevent wound contamination, avoidcross-infection, stimulate the rapid growth of granulation tissue, and shorten thetreatment time and reduce pain, however, it’s also a useful therapy to refractorywound which is ineffective with traditional wound dressing, so VSD is a simpleand effective method for treating chronic ulcer.
