ObjectTo investigate the expression of Nuclear Receptor Co-activator 5(NCOA5) in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) tissues, paracarcinoma tissues and their correlation to clinicopathologial features. MethodsThe m RNA and protein expression levels of NCOA5 in 64 cases of HCC and corresponding paracarcinoma tissues were detected by reverse transcriptasepolymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) and immunohisochemistry(IHC), respectively. The semiquantitative analysis results and clinical data were statistically analyzed. ResultsRT-PCR showed that the positive rates of NCOA5 m RNA expression in HCC tissue15.6%(10/64) was significantly lower than that in paracarcinoma tissue to carcinoma65.6%(42/64), χ2=33.166,P<0.05; respectively, IHC staining showed that the positive rates of NCOA5 protein expression in HCC tissue 12.5%(8/64) was also significantly lower than that in paracarcinoma tissue to carcinoma 57.8%(37/64), χ2=28.821,P<0.05.The positive rates of NCOA5 m RNA expression in portal vein tumor thrombus and non portal vein tumor thrombus was 3.4%(1/29)and 25.7%(9/35), the difference was statistically significant, χ2=5.964, P<0.05; the positive rates of NCOA5 m RNA expression in postoperative recurrence and non postoperative recurrence was 5.6%(2/36)and 28.6%(8/28), the difference was statistically significant,χ2=6.329,P<0.05; the positive rates of NCOA5 protein expression in portal vein tumor thrombus and non portal vein tumor thrombus was 3.4%(1/29) and 20.0%(7/35), the difference was statistically significant, χ2=3.972, P<0.05; the positive rates of NCOA5 m RNA expression in postoperative recurrence and non postoperative recurrence was 2.8%(1/36)and 25.0%(7/28), the difference was statistically significant, χ2=7.111, P<0.05; which showed that NCOA5 expression in HCC was significantly correlated with portal vein tumor thrombus and postoperative recurrence, P<0.05. ConclusionsThe expression of NCOA5 is low in HCC tissues, while its expression is high in paracarcinoma tissues. The expression of NCOA5 in HCC was significantly correlated with portal vein tumor thrombus and postoperative recurrence.Which showed that the low expression of NCOA5 is closely related to the HCC progression.
