Objective1. To discuss the application effects of combination of Chinese traditional and Western medicine health education in children with TS, based on the organic combination of the holistic nursing of modern Western medicine and dialectical nursing of traditional Chinese medicine.2. To discuss the application effects of combination of Chinese traditional and Western medicine health education in caregiver of children with TS.3. To explore the specific and rigorous intervening methods suitable for children with TS, by means of the evaluation of clinical argumentation and effects feedback.4. To explore a series of promotional materials for the combination of Chinese traditional and Western medicine health education, including the integration of Chinese traditional and western medicine, such as diet、psychology(emotional nursing)、living life、sports guidance and health care, etc.5. To promote the application of combination of Chinese traditional and Western medicine health education among the children with TS and their caregiver based on the results of experimental study and the basic theory and method.Methods1. Adopting experimental methods of RCT, total of156children with TS and their primary caregivers were randomly divided into control and intervention groups, each group included78cases. Patients were divided into four kinds of syndrome types:yang kang wind symptom、Phlegm heat disturb mind symptom、spleen deficient with liver depression symptom、kidney deficiency with liver hyperactivity symptom, according to traditional Chinese medicine dialectical method.2. The78cases of control group used conventional nursing method for TS as intervention, on the basis of routine traditional Chinese medicine therapy. For the intervention group’s78cases, combination of Chinese traditional and Western medicine health education was used scientifically and systematically, at the same time, according to the syndrome types, individualized instructions and interventions with drug、diet、sports、psychology (emotion)、family and social support, etc.3. Effects were evaluated using YGTSS and ZBI for test subjects of those two groups before the invention and after the3months’ invention.4. All data have been made statistical analysis with SPSS13.0.Results1. Comprehensive analysis of the YGTSS score of two groups of TS children after intervention showed that the differences of the results had statistical significance (P<0.05), indicating that the improving effects on children with TS of the control and intervention groups were different, the treatment effect of the intervention group was better than the control group.2. Comparison of the ZBI score:using Wilcoxon test to analyze the results, the ZBI score of two groups of children with TS before and after intervention were compared, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05), indicating that after using different intervention methods for those two groups of children with TS, the burden of caregivers of control and intervention groups were different, the intervention group had an advantage in reducing caregivers’burden than the control group.3. Comparison of the hospital satisfaction survey results:comparison of the two groups of caregivers after the intervention showed that the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05), indicating that after using different intervention methods for those two groups of caregivers, the satisfaction of caregivers of the control and intervention groups were different, further analysis showed that the caregivers of the intervention group had a higher satisfaction than the control group.4. Comparison of ZBI score in each dimension:each group compared the ZBI score of the caregivers before and after the intervention within the group using paired t test:there were no significant differences statistically (P>0.05) in the dimensions of physical of both groups、social and psychology of the control group; and there were significant differences statistically (P<0.05) in the dimensions of economical of both groups, social and psychology of the intervention group. The results showed that through only the conventional TCM treatment and nursing care of the children with TS in the control group had no effect on the physical, social and psychological burdens of caregivers, but to cooperate with combination of Chinese traditional and Western medicine health education would play a certain ease effect on the social and psychology for the caregivers of the children with TS in intervention group. The analysis of the results in the dimension of burden showed that both groups had economical pressure.Conclusions1. The results showed some differences between those two groups on the curative effects of children with TS^reduction of the burden on caregivers improvement of the satisfaction of the hospital. Intervention group had an advantage in reducing TS severity, easing caregiver burden and increasing satisfaction of treatment than the control group. Further study showed that the burden easing of the caregivers in intervention group mainly lied in the reducing of the social burden and psychological burden.2. The results of the two groups were compared within group using ZBI before and after the intervention, discovered that in the dimension of the economic burden, both groups had economic pressure and burden, which was related to the long last time of the TS and lack of the Medicare for the outpatient medical service. The social security system should be strengthened to reduce the proportion of the health care costs of children with TS in the total household income.3. The intervention plans of combination of Chinese traditional and Western medicine health education was effective in reducing the severity of TS, easing the burden of caregivers and improving the satisfaction of hospital. In the process of the intervention, patients had a good compliance and actively cooperated with the completion of programs. The results showed that the purpose and the specific intervention methods of this research were suitable for the condition of the children with TS and their caregivers, conformed to the needs of the development of the health care career, and could be widely used in communities and hospitals.
