Objective:To investigate the levels and clinical significance of serum IL-13 and cockroaches specific Ig E in chronic urticaria patients. Methods:Cases: In 2013.8.1-2014.8.31,28 patients(17 males,11 females, age arranged from14 to 66 years old),all from the First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University, who were diagnosed chronic urticaria and cockroach specific Ig E positive(Ig E level ≥ 0.35IU/ml). 28 normal humans(13 males,15 females, aged from 15 to 65 years old),all from the healthy physical examination of the same hospital, no other allergic diseases. All cases are not used within 1 months hormone, immune modulators, immunosuppressants, two groups in age and sex ratio had no statistical significance(P > 0.05). Using western blot method to detect specimens of cockroach specific Ig E, unit for IU/ml; By ELISA method to detect specimens of IL- 13 levels, the unit for pg/ml. Results using SPSS13.0statistics software to carry on the analysis, two sets of quantitative data is using t-test,correlation between indicators using Pearson correlation analysis, P < 0.05 for the difference was statistically significant. Results:The level of IL-13 in group of patients with chronic urticaria and healthy controls were 9.391±1.320 and 3.194±1.021(pg/ml), statistical analysis showed that chronic urticaria group had a significantly higher serum level of IL- 13 healthy controls(t =19.65, P < 0.01), the difference was statistically significant. Pearson correlation analysisshowed that a group of patients with chronic urticaria IL-13 and cockroaches specific Ig E level was significantly positive correlation(r = 0.845, P < 0.01), the difference was statistically significant.Conclusions:(1) In chronic urticaria patients,Serum level of IL-13 is significantly higher than healthy controls(P < 0.01), suggesting IL- 13 to participate in the development of urticaria;(2) In chronic urticaria group, IL- 13 and cockroaches specific Ig E levels were significantly positive correlations(P < 0.01), Instructions to induce B lymphocytes to produce Ig E IL – 13, and both involved in the development of chronic urticaria.
