Objective: this study aims to explore the relationship of human leukocyte antigen(HLA) DQ gene polymorphism and chronic hepatitis hepatitis(CHB) in Xinjiang Uygur and Han population, and to understand the discrepancy in the distribution of different nationalities of the HLA-DQ gene in chronic hepatitis B disease. Methods: this study used case-control method and included 775 subjects of different ethnic groups in Xinjiang, which including 198 Han patients with CHB, 196 Uygur patients with CHB, 184 Han healthy people and 197 Uygur healthy people. The HLA-DQ gene(rs9272346 and rs9275319) of the study subjects were classified by SNaPshot technology. The non-conditional logistic regression was used for statistical analysis to explore the risk factors and protective factors of CHB disease. Results: comparison of CHB patients and healthy controls was found that the rs9272346 genotypes significantly associated with CHB in the additive model(OR = 2.48, 95% CI =1.13-5.44, P = 0.023) and the recessive model(OR = 2.31, 95% CI =0.19-4.92, P = 0.029), and AA genotype may increase the risk of CHB in the Han population. There was no difference in the frequencies of genotypes of SNPs(rs9272346 and rs9275319) between CHB patients and healthy controls in the Uygur population. Conclusion: rs9272346 was closely related to CHB in the Han population. In addition, the allele A and genotype AA might be the susceptible factor in the Han population. However, rs9275319 had no direct relation with CHB in the Han and Uygur population in Xinjiang.
