High school student mentality is not yet mature, But they have to be confrontedwith the college entrance examination having great importance to future, Pressurebeen confronted with by them is gigantic beyond doubt. Andrews(1978) found thatthe degree of psychological suffering is twice than that of the normal people if theindividual is lack of effective coping methods under great pressure. Interaction theorythinks that particular cognition and valuation to pressure circumstances are decidingparticular choice coping style. But, few people carries out an exploration on thecognition factor affecting their choice about coping style. Given this, this studyfocuses on negative responders in high middle school and tries to probe into thecognitive characteristics of negative responders through cognitive behavioralexperiments(point detection task and recognition task). The results of research are as follows:1.There exist biased choices of attention among negative responders. There areobvious different reactions of words between positive and negative responders whilepositive responders/reaction is faster than that of negative responders.2.Negative responders have memory bias on terms of coping style. There ismarked difference in accuracy rate of recognition on related vocabularies betweenpositive and negative responders. Negative responders’ accuracy rate of relatedvocabularies is clearly higher than that of the control group and tend to use generalvocabularies. Negative responders in quick in react words concerned and there existmarked differences. In summary, this paper shows that negative responders and non-negativeresponders do have cognitive difference. As the mechanism of the causes is now notclear, subsequently the paper will carry out research with physiological mechanism ofbrain to preferably explain the physiological basis of cognitive bias.
