Frankfurt School’s Critical Theory Of Mass Culture And Its Enlightenment Study

Mass culture is popularized and popular with the development of media technology and the promotion of globalization wave,on the one hand,it enriches people’s spiritual cultural life,promotes the prosperity and development of our cultural industry;But on the other hand,it also caused the cultural development of our country to emerge value chaos,difficult to distinguish good and evil,impetuous vulgar,entertainment first and other undesirable problems.The report of the 20 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China clearly explains the essential requirements of Chinese modernization,one of which is "enriching the spiritual world of the people".Therefore,it is not slow to lead the mass culture in value and develop the mass culture of the people in the socialist era.The critical theory of popular culture of the Frankfurt School points out that in the western capitalist society,the combination of culture with economy and politics is increasingly close,and popular culture has become a tool of capitalist ideological control and a means of psychological control.Socialist popular culture is fundamentally different from Western popular culture,and the critical theory of popular culture of the Frankfurt School also has its limitations.But its intrinsic value for the development of socialist mass culture still has a place to learn.This thesis focuses on the critical theory of popular culture of the Frankfurt School.Firstly,it introduces the historical context and theoretical origin of the critical theory of popular culture of the Frankfurt School,and emphatically analyzes the criticism of the essence,characteristics and ideological function of popular culture of the Frankfurt School.On this basis,it summarizes the pioneering,integral and transcendental characteristics of the critical theory of popular culture of Frankfurt School.Secondly,this paper focuses on the Frankfurt School’s criticism of the negative functions of mass culture,such as commoditization,deception and manipulation,as well as the specific forms of consumer culture,entertainment culture and media culture formed in modern society,and then discusses dialectically the value and deficiencies of the critical theory of this school,and explores its theoretical reference value in contemporary times through critical analysis.Finally,based on our socialist culture construction,this article proposes that the foreign theory should be targeted to deal with the challenges of our culture construction,discusses how to deal with the multiple relation problems of mass culture and foreign culture,traditional culture,mainstream culture,etc.,in order to guide our country culture healthy development,actively exploring the new path suitable for our country socialism culture development.
