Report Of Consecutive Interpretation Simulation On China-ASEAN Expo

The author operates an E-C consecutive interpretation simulation with theleaders’ speeches in China-ASEAN Expo as the source material, and analyzesproblems appeared in the interpreting process, then the author records the wholeprocess in report and hopes to provide references for future interpretation work. Thisreport is grouped into six chapters: in the first two chapters, the author describes thetask and the pre-interpretation preparation work including relevant materialscollection, anticipatory vocabulary and facilities preparation; in the third chapter, theauthor analyzes problems existed in the interpreting recordings, Then the author putsforward solutions by adopting interpretation techniques, furthermore, the authorillustrates proper interpretation examples; in the fourth chapter, the author gives ananalysis for English accent features of five representative ASEAN countries includingCambodia, Myanmar, Philippine, Laos and Thailand, and concludes the commonfeatures of Southeast Asia’s English accent; in the fifth chapter, the author proposessolutions to these accent problems; Lastly, the author concludes interpretingexperience and lessons on the basis of the analysis for the whole interpreting process.Due to rapid development of ASEAN countries, cooperation and exchangesbetween China and ASEAN have been increasing. In addition, people from ASEANcountries have unique English pronunciation features. Therefore, the author madegreat efforts to analyze English accent features of five ASEAN countries, andconclude common features of Southeast Asia’s English accent, which is theinnovative point and provides references and experience for future interpreting work.
