The silk book of Mawangdu and the Confucian writings of Guodian unearthed,so many scholars began to focus the Zisi-Mencius School, and explore the theory ofthe five elements proposed by Zisi and Mencius. The Zisi-Mencius School as animportant Confucian school, its prose form and style is diverse, has an importantposition in the history of the development of the prose before qin dynasty. This paperis divided into four chapters, discusses prose of the Zisi-Mencius School, the mainpoint of chapters are as follows:The first chapter defines the Zisi-Mencius School and its work. School namebegan in the Song dynasty, the Zisi-Mencius School is a modern name. The name isproposed by later generations on the basis of Zisi and Mencius in thought similarityand the indirect relations between them. The Zisi-Mencius School is an importantschool of Confucianism inheritance, not the only one. Combination of the unearthedliterature and literature handed down from ancient times, the basic can be sure ofworks of the Zisi-Mencius School include:“Biao Ji”,“Zi Yi”,“Fang Ji”,“Wu Xing”,“Lu Mu Gong asked Zisi”,“Qiong Da Yi Shi”,“Xing Zi Ming Chu”,“Zhong Yong”,“Da Xue”,“Mencius”.The second chapter has discussed the inheritance and innovation of prose of theZisi-Mencius School from the pre Qin prose development angle. Proses of theZisi-Mencius School inherited the Shang Dynasty and Zhou Dynasty’s description ofthe traditional prose, prose dialogue form and metaphor, parallelism, layer deliveryand copiously quote authoritative works and reasoning skills from “Shang Shu” and“Guo Yu”. Prose of the Zisi-Mencius School inherited the form and concise languageof ancient motto, and the simple but profound significance. The Zisi-Mencius Schoolinnovate the quotation in a prose style. Zisi began to large-scale use the “Confuciussaid” and cited structure, highlighting the reasoning of quotations in a prose style. Thequotations in a prose style of “Mencius” not only the argument, but also add thereasoning process in detail, at the same time, increase of quotations in a prose stylespace. Dialogue in the prose of “Shang Shu” and “Guo Yu” have dialogue but whetherdebate. Dialogues in the prose of “Mencius” add argumentation strong colors.The third chapter discusses “benevolence” and “righteousness”, and the relationship between the monarch and courtiers in prose of the Zisi-Mencius School.Confucius rarely put “benevolence” and “righteousness” together to talk about. Heclaims that “benevolence” is the highest realm, and the meaning of “righteousness” isfuzzy. Zisi tend to think that “benevolence” is internal, and “righteousness” is theexternal. He also thinks that “benevolence” loves their loved ones and within thefamily governance principles,“righteousness” is the respect for elders and family-runexternal governance principles. Mencius advocates that “benevolence” and“righteousness” is inherently, he put “benevolence” and “righteousness” was highlyunified. In addition, the Zisi-Mencius School inherited the Confucian tradition,including responsibilities within this area; cultivate one’s morality, a good examplefor the people, polite served monarch, sincere advice, adding new meaning. TheZisi-Mencius School Changed the passive attitude taken by Confucius facing of cruelmonarch, think kill cruel monarch not offends morality, just kill traitors. The monarchhas management right, should be people-oriented, good governance, don’t have therule of ownership, can’t above the people foremost.In the fourth chapter, the different genres of prose as the breakthrough point,discusses prose of the Zisi-Mencius School and the different genres of prose ofcommon characteristics: controversy and pristine simplicity, and the artisticcharacteristics in prose of the Zisi-Mencius School: personality and diversified style.Zisi and Mencius has a strong personality, they drew sharp, daring to voice and act tomorality, have independent personality, in the text will also reveal the dispositionfrank, therefore the Zisi-Mencius School’s prose show strongly personality. Inaddition, Zisi’s works are present a serious level, steady, not rhetoric, while Mencius’prose has the imposing and argue irrationally.
