It is generally acknowledged that context is a hot topic nowadays, which has animportant position in the language teaching research and causes widespread concernin the field of teaching Chinese as a foreign language currently. Especially in anun-target language country overseas, context teaching plays a very important role.Through the combination of elementary comprehensive Chinese language teachingexamples in the Central University of Chile, this thesis investigates and researches thesituation of context teaching in the Chinese course of Central University, discusses theimportance and teaching principles of using context to teach Chinese in un-targetcountries, and based on practicing, summarizes teaching concluding and feedback toimprove the real Chinese communication abilities of students.The first chapter sums up the current situation of using context to teach Chineseby listing a series of relevant research achievements, reviews the application ofcontext in various teaching theories of second language teaching, and brieflyintroduces the research background, purpose, significance, methods etc. The secondchapter systematically makes clear some concepts related to the context theory,focusing on the definition, classification and function, and expounds the connectionsbetween context and teaching Chinese as a foreign language. The third chapter is toanalysis the application of context teaching in Central University of Chile bycollecting and gathering statistics of questionnaire, and obtains the teaching effect,feedback and enlightenment after practical contextual teaching. In the fourth chapter,some teaching principles and advices that should be paid attention to are offered. Bystudying of context, the writer hopes that this thesis can enrich the current teachingmethods of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, and be helpful to the practicalteaching.
