The inimitability research in resource-based view was applied to the ethnic tourism study inthis paper, we research on the imperfect imitability of cultural resources at the level of resources’own attribute, and cultural resources’ inimitability is creatively subdivided into contextualdependence, incomplete imitation, imitated distortion, imitated deviation and imitated failure.Taking Liannan Yao Autonomous County (Youling Village and Nangang Village) and RuyuanYao Autonomous County (Bibei town) as a case, we focus on inimitability characteristics ofheterogeneous ethnic cultural resources which including Yao village,Yao tambourin,Yaosongs,Yao embroidery,Yao Shuagetang ceremony and Panwang ritual worship as well as itstourism economy performance with case study. Our study finds that ethnic cultural resources in Liannan County and Ruyuan County havestrong inimitability, and transmission of these inimitable resources has also brought sustainableexcellent tourism economic performance. This discovery supports our hypothesis: onlyinimitable ethnic cultural resources transmission could bring sustainable excellent tourismeconomic performance.
