A Study On Medical Translation From A Perspective Of Translation Aesthetics

With the change in social and ecological environment for human being, variousnew diseases have emerged. Now, the exchange in medical field between differentcountries has been increasing. To satisfy the need of this ever-growing communicationin medical science, medical translation plays a more and more important decisive role.However, problems in medical translation can be found everywhere, such aslow-quality translation works, mistranslation or dead translation etc. These problemshave seriously hindered medical communications and cooperation between China andother countries all around the world.The present thesis intends to examine medical translation from a perspective oftranslation aesthetics. Based on the current researches and the analysis of the mainfeatures of medical texts and a number of examples of medical translation, the authorhas concluded a principle and some practical translation strategies for medicaltranslation. The author believes that the principle of “Beauty in Form&Beauty inContent” is beneficial to improve the quality of medical translation. At the end of thethesis, the author also proposes some required qualifications for medical translators,which will be beneficial to improve medical translation practice and relatedresearches.
