Based on the simulated consecutive interpreting of Chen Deming’s (FormerMinister of Commerce) press conference held on March8,2013and the author’spersonal experience on interpreting, this practice report aims to discuss somedifficulties of consecutive interpreting as well as possible coping strategies andsolutions under the guidance of the Interpretative Theory, hoping that whenlearners encounter the similar problems during their consecutive interpreting, theycan learn something from this report and improve the accuracy and fluency of theirconsecutive interpreting.This report can be divided into five chapters. Chapter one introduces thebackground, main contents and research purposes of this report. Chapter twoanalyses the Interpretative Theory. Chapter three describes the work the author hasdone during the pre-interpreting preparation phrase and the post-interpretingreflection phase. Chapter four, the core of the report, analyses the cases and thetypical problems encountered in the process of consecutive interpreting, such as,hesitation, correction and repetition and misinterpreting, omissions caused by thefactors of understanding, cognitive load and background knowledge and putsforward the corresponding strategies. Chapter five summarizes the deficiency ofthis report.
