Purpose:This study explored the current situation of Optimism and Urbanadaptation of Young migrant workers and the relationship between them.Method:1.《LOT-R》and《the questionnaire about the adaptation of Urbanmigrant workers》was based on the preliminary investigation,consulting of relevantliterature and results of previous studies.893young migrant workers was investigatedin Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing and Qingdao.2.Statistic such as T-test,F-test,correlation analysis and stepwise regression analysis were used to the differences oneach demographic variable and relationship within Optimism and Urban adaptation.Results:(1) The level of overall Optimism of Young migrant workers is upbeaton the middle level and the level of urban adaptation is a moderate level;(2)Demographic variables of gender, one child or not, the family economic status, theeducational degree and the time of working in the city exist significantly differenceson the optimistic dimension, the pessimistic dimension or overall optimism levels ofOptimism;(3) The family economic status, the educational degree, the maritalsituation, income levels in every month and the time of working in the city existsignificantly differences on the separation-type dimension, diffuse-type dimension,integrated-type dimension, assimilation-type dimension or the overall level of theurban adaptation of young migrant workers;(4)The separation-type dimension,diffuse-type dimension of the urban adaptation of young migrant workers have apositive linear correlation with the pessimistic dimension, the integrated-typedimension and assimilation-type dimension have a positive linear correlation with theoptimistic dimension. The level of Optimism of young migrant workers can predictthe level of urban adaptation;(5) The optimistic dimension has a positive linearcorrelation with the assimilation-type dimension and integrated-type Dimension; Thepessimistic dimension has a positive linear correlation with the separation-type dimensionand diffuse-type dimension, and it has a negative linear correlation with assimilation-typedimension. The level of urban adaptation of young migrant workers can also predictthe level of Optimism. Conclusions: Optimism has an interaction with urban adaptation, optimisticyoung migrant workers can adapt to city life quickly and city adaptable youngmigrant workers have a high level of optimism psychology.
