"A Country Without Documentaries is like a Family Without Photo Album", thisstatement fully shows the special status of the documentaries in a country or its ethnic history.Chinese Documentary has gradually developed after experiencing a course from resplendence,low ebb, a favourable turn to resuscitation and a transforming from columns to channels. SinceCCTV Documentary Channel has launched, researches and discussions around thespecialization as well as the industrialization of Documentary Channel increased significantly.With the development of HD a pay-TV, interactive-TV and New Media technology, thedivision and diversifying demands of Audiences made the channel towards specialization,declassification and Narrowcast. The trend of development of Chinese documentary towardsspecialization channel shows a new pattern and posture.At present, the Specialization of Documentary channel in China is still immature andconfronted with many problems, such as, excellent documentary channel operation teams arelacked, documentary products are uneven, option for mass specification or popularizationuncertain, the brand chain and assessment mechanism unsound. Meanwhile, how to implementCommissio, build the documentary channel brand and realize the industrialization ofdocumentary channel market has became our priorities. In view of the present situation andproblems, corresponding strategies will be explored in this paper through analysis from fiveaspects, that is, operation mechanisms, program products, orientation and division of theaudiences, professional brand industry value chain, comprehensive assessment system, byusing the theories of Communication, Brand Communications and Marketing. This thesisattempts to brings some references for the development of documentary channel in China.
