This thesis is based on a case study of the application of deverbalization in XISUMTI interpreting training. In order to cultivate highly-skilled and professionalinterpreters, scholars and experts at home and abroad have done extensive research ondeverbalization by using content analysis of the materials. However, little research hasbeen done on the effectiveness of deverbalization in MTI interpreting training. Thisstudy is based on the analysis of the questionnaires completed by twenty-four XISUMTI interpreting students and the result of the interview with a XISU MTI interpretingprofessor. The purpose of this study is to find out whether deverbalization is effectivefor XISU MTI interpreting students. Furthermore, the problems that occur whendeverbalization is applied in interpreting training are also analyzed in this study.Hopefully, this study will provide meaningful reference for XISU MTI interpretingtraining and teaching.
