Seeing Through Enlightenment: How Chan Consisting With Poem

Chan/zen consisting with poem was Chinese ancient literature theory’s important topic,andis also hot in today’s poetic and Aesthetics research.For this, there were already plenty ofprofound modern research from different angel,such as from the tradition Chinese poetic theory,or from the west aesthetic theory.However,one of the problem was that too much were fromthe poetic by default. And it was turned out to be a rhetoric research finally. We had too muchknowledge about how the Chan consists with the poem, while too little about why ithappened. This makes that the Chan’s ontology Enlightenment was always in our vision butalso always out of focus.So the text set the Enlightenment as basement to investigate themeaning of the Enlightenment, investigate how Chan approach to poem through Enlightenment.Through The Blue Cliff Records’ text close reading, the Enlightenment could be layered with“Mind’s enlightenment” which lead to “freedom between Mind and Form”, and “Transcendentalenlightenment” which lead to “transcendental freedom”. And we find Chan meet with poem justfrom the dimension of experience which was the representation of “freedom between Mind andForm” and the dimension of Play which was the representation of “transcendentalfreedom”.There is two values for Such research approach:the first, because the discuss wasfrom the origin of the chan, we could see the detail of Chan consisting with poem clealy;thesecond,we can avoid the rhetoric orthodox from poetic vision:the poem have to be present withword,while Chan needn’t.
