The sentence with Restrictive attributive clause is the most usual kind of compoundsentences. Restrictive attributive clause in English legal literature signifies three textualcharacteristics English legal literature that are logic, seriousness and terseness. Due to its textualfunctionality, the translation of the restrictive attributive clause in English legal literature becomesa troubling question that cannot be ignored by the translating researchers and the translators. Thisreport unscrambles the restrictive attributive clause in English legal literature, and suggests somemethods of translating the sentences with restrictive attributive clause.According to the related translating theories raised by Ling Yutang and Nida, the authorsuggests three translating methods: Clause replacement method, Parallel translating method andCombination translating methods by comparing the differences and similarities between therelated sentences both in Chinese and English. The author chooses three examples for each ofthree translating methods and analyzes those examples. The author believes that, the reasonablemethods can help the translators solving the translating problem of restrictive attributive clauseand can make the Chinese translation satisfying the reading requirement of the readers who speaktarget language.
