The present report is a study of the English-Chinese translation of the restrictive attributive clauses selected from Business Law Now written by Caterina Crucitti, which typically falls into the category of legal academic works. The text is characterized by strong logic and rigorousness in structure and language, especially the abundant use of the restrictive attributive clauses. With the guidance of the communicative translation theory put forward by Peter Newmark, the author summarizes five translation methods through case analyses. In the sense of forms, when the length of the restrictive attributive clauses is shorter,Preposition method is adopted;when the length of the restrictive attributive clauses is longer,Juxtaposition method is adopted; When a sentence contains several restrictive attributive clauses,Comprehensive method is adopted. From the semantic and functional point of view, when there is a subject-predicate relationship between the subject or antecedent and the restrictive attributive clause,Blending method is adopted;when the restrictive attributive clause contains adverbial logical relations such as purpose, concession, hypothesis and so on,Adverbialization method is adopted. In the specific translation practices, translation methods should be selected according to the specific problems and the semantic logic and context. The author hopes that the report can provide some references for the translation of business law texts, especially the translation of restrictive attributive clauses therein.
