Emotion recognition is one of the indispensable human capacity to survive in society,it’s essential for the social development of children, mental health and even their whole livedevelopment. Among them, the facial expression recognition is one part of emotionrecognition ability, which affects the quality of children’s social contact. Children withautism have defect in social, therefore, for the group of studies in emotion recognitionability, it’s more abundant, facial expression recognition research is also pay attention bydomestic and overseas scholars. For this study, firstly analyzed and discussed aboutidentify characteristics of children with autism facial expressions, and then show differentfacial expressions through the material, explore the factors of children with autism facialexpression recognition impact.Chinese scholars have detailed study of live face recognition on children with autism, however, many conclusions of the studies are different, some of them are even contrary. Thus there is a certain disputes, resulting in children with autism to explore thecharacteristics of facial expression recognition. This study will use Yuejia expressionlibrary, aske children with autism to identify the six basic facial expressions and thensummarize their identify characteristics. In recent years, some domestic scholars have also begun to expand the breadth ofresearch into cartoon characters for children with autism and other aspects of facialexpression recognition, depth extends to affect the eye and mouth and other facialexpressions for character recognition. However, experimental materials for cartooncharacters facial expressions are lack, therefore, conclusions are slightly different fordomestic and foreign scholars. It may be due to the different experimental material ofchoice, it may be because of different cultural traditions or education. This study will usethe familiar and unfamiliar children weekdays cartoon character expression studies to see ifthere is a certain effect on the facial expression recognition of children with autism. For expression recognition, domestic researches more prefer static images, but in reallife people exchanges and contacts with dynamic expression. Recently, some researchers began to focus on the dynamic facial expression recognition research, but most studyobjects are preschool children or adults, for over six old years of children, it’s certain gap,and for dynamic facial expression recognition research from children with autism, it’s notalso involved in domestic. In this study, use standardized dynamic facial expressions videoas experimental material, ask children with autism to identify, and then compare theresults with the corresponding results of standardized static emoticons for comparison. For Study, select13autistic children between6and10years of age, to study theiridentifying characteristics and influencing factors for the six basic facial expressions, andcompare with16normal children. The results showed that:(1) For six basic facial expression recognition ability, high-functioning autisticchildren is weaker than normal children. Among them, high-functioning autistic childrenrecognize happy expression best, disgusted expression weakest.(2) high-functioning children with autism name sad expression significantly higherthan the other three kinds of negative expressions (anger, disgust, fear). To identify thecorrect rate for disgust expression was significantly lower than the other four kinds ofexpressions (sadness, surprise, anger, fear).(3) For six basic facial recognition capabilities of cartoon pictures, high-functioningautistic children are weaker than normal children. For different familiarity with the cartoonexpression recognition, for high-functioning autistic children, the only surprise cartoonface recognition is significantly better familar than the strange cartoon.(4) In the dynamic video material presented, for six basic facial expressionrecognition, the high-functioning autistic children was significantly lower than normalchildren. Among them, for the recognition of anger expression, high-functioning childrenwith autism were significantly lower than normal children.(5) In the dynamic video material presented under the six basic expressions,high-functioning children with autism correctly identify significantly higher than in thestatic video material presented, for the identification of two expressions of sadness andfear, recognition accuracy under dynamic video presentation significantly higherrecognition rate under a static picture.
