With the development of China’s opening-up policy and the rapid development of economy, Chinese becomes a world language. It provide a broad space for the development of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.After half a century of development, teaching Chinese as a foreign language has made brilliant achievements both in theory or in practice, and formed the unique localization teaching mode. The teaching mode from "speaking practice-refresher training" to "skills in teaching mode" which is widely adopted, indicate that teaching Chinese as a foreign language in China improve gradually. But the development of teaching Chinese as a foreign language can’t work behind closed door, it is necessary to take examples from other countries’experience of foreign language teaching, especially other countries’experience in Chinese teaching. In recent years, it Appeared a group of American short-term Chinese reinforcement programs in China, such as:PIB CIB MIB HBA, these programs are based on "Middlebury model", through the cooperation with Chinese universities to provide a real Chinese learning environment for students, most of the students are native speakers of English, using the teaching method of "totally immersion" to strengthen the students’ability of listening, speaking, reading and writing, to make the students master the target language in a short time. Decades, a number of American short-term Chinese reinforcement programs has developed into personalized mode of their own, and has obtained the outstanding teaching achievement, which become the focus of attention by the scholars. This kind of mode is also adopted by the domestic universities, for example, college of language and culture Nankai university follows the same "Middlebury model", but after a long period of exploration, it developed a set of teaching mode of their own. This article mainly from the Angle of comparison, through comparing American short-term Chinese programs in China and the localization of teaching mode, to discuss which methods can learn from each other, which methods need to be further improved, to explore an effective teaching mode, and to think about how to advocate, promote and practice, providing the practical basis for the domestic Chinese as a foreign language,and improving the quality of our teaching Chinese as a foreign language comprehensively. This paper is divided into six chapters:chapter1, introduce the research purpose, research significance and research methods; chapter2, the popular teaching model research both at home and abroad; chapter3, the comparative study of American short-term Chinese reinforcement program in China and Chinese intermediate class in Tianjin normal university; chapter4, the comparative study of American short-term Chinese reinforcement program in China and the long term Chinese class in Nankai university; chapter5, teaching Suggestions for both short-term and long-term Chinese teaching in the future; chapter6, conclusion.
