In recent years,there have been more and more Chinese language training programs between many famous American universities and domestic famous universities,These programs were born out of the “Middlebury Language-Teaching Model”.Although the later Chinese training programs also have their own innovations,they also adopt or partly adopt the Chinese teaching mode of Middleburry College.The Chinese language teaching in American Middleburry College has been famous in the world for a long time.Therefore,scholars sum up the teaching methods and management methods of the Chinese summer school of American Middleburry College,and form a short-term intensive teaching mode.On the basis of the analysis of the Middlebury Language-Teaching Model,this paper takes the application of the short-term Chinese teaching in China as the object of study in the “Middlebury Language-Teaching Model”.Take the Critical Language Scholarship Program of the United States as an example,this paper discusses the application of the “Middlebury Language-Teaching Model”,and in this model,whether the CLS Program can achieve the short-term strengthening of the Chinese language,so as to give suggestions and reference for the short-term Chinese teaching in China.The full text has been divided into four parts,each part of the specific research content as follows:The first part is introduction,including four aspects: background,research object,research method and literature review.The second part is the analysis of Middlebury Language-Teaching Model.Based on the general introduction of Middlebury College and its Chinese summer school,this paper introduces and analyzes the teaching objectives,operating procedures,evaluation system and characteristics of the “Middlebury Language-Teaching Model” through the methods of investigation and literature.The third part takes the Critical Language Scholarship Program under the Middlebury Language-Teaching Model as an example,on the basis of a brief introduction of the program,it investigates and analyzes the application of the “Middlebury Language-Teaching Model” in the actual teaching process of the program,and make a conclusion.The investigation of the application of the program includes four aspects: the teaching goal,the operation procedure,the teaching activity and the evaluation system.The fourth part is the domestic Chinese short-term teaching suggestions.As a typical Chinese teaching model in the world,the “Middlebury Language-Teaching Model” can provide valuable experience for the short-term intensive teaching of Chinese in China,and analyze the successful factors of this model.It can provide some reference for the short-term Chinese teaching in China.The limitations of Middlebury Language-Teaching Model can also be used for reference in short-term Chinese teaching.As a short-term intensive teaching of Chinese under the Middlebury Language-Teaching Model,the CLS program has absorbed the success of this model.In addition,taking full advantage of students' coming to China and being in the target language environment,it creates opportunities for students to practice Chinese and understand China.As a participant in the CLS program,the author has accumulated the teaching experience in eight weeks,and take some opinions.However,the present situation of short-term Chinese teaching in China has not been further elaborated in the thesis,and the pertinence of the suggestions should be further proved.
