There is a huge difference in the thought patterns of different nationalities; atypical example is the difference between English thought pattern and Chinese thoughtpattern. These differences are obviously and directly reflected by languages of Chineseand English in word formation, semantics, grammar, syntactic structure, etc. Ignoranceof the differences between Chinese thought pattern and English thought pattern addsdifficulties to native English speakers’ Chinese learning. If a native English speakerspoke or wrote in Chinese while thinking in English thought pattern, his Chinese wouldnot only have a strong English flavor but sometimes be erroneous.
