The career of teaching Chinese as a foreign language develops rapidlySince China’s reform and opening up. It puts more energies on introducing Chinese tothe world but not only satisfies the studying needs of foreign students in recent years.As a general knowledge, language and culture are inseparable since ancient time andlanguage plays a very important role in cultural evolution. More specifically, highstandard cultural materials determine the learning quality of foreign learners as cultureteaching also plays a significant role in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. Thegoal of teaching Chinese as a foreign language is not only help foreigners to learnChinese but also enhance their abilities to understand and use Chinese. Therefore, thequality of culture materials and its contents determine the education quality of teachingChinese as a foreign language.This dissertation focus on analyzing the relationship between teaching Chinese as aforeign language and the teaching materials, researching current culture teachingsituations both in domestic and overseas. Based on those, there are some advices willbe given on culture teaching materials in this area.Section1Introducing researching meanings, current researching situations,researching objects and methodologies of this dissertation. It is not systematic ofresearching materials for teaching Chinese as a foreign language and there are severalproblems of editing those materials, which need more and deep discussions in thissection.Section2This section illustrates the meaning of teaching Chinese as a foreignlanguage and the relationship between culture and language. Further more, somedemonstrations are also given related to current researching results.Section3Based on the writing and editing theories of teaching Chinese as aforeign language, this part gives some analysis and illustrations of teaching materials’content, set type and its advantages and disadvantages by using ‘Common knowledge about Chinese culture’ as an example.Section4This section is mainly about analyzing some disadvantages of currentmaterials’ writing and editing and reaching some reasons of it by given a systematicaloverview and thinking.Section5Some writing and editing advices will be given in this part related toculture teaching materials of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Concluding part: Overview this dissertation and give an illustration on someshortcomings of this article.
