Television is the sound integration means of masscommunication.Television is a complex and extensive socialcommunication system,which is compatible with news, art, entertainment,social services, public education, and many other forms. It embodies thepolitical and economic, science and technology, social culture, ethics andvarious values of exchange.[1]It established the most basic function of itsdocumentary film and television, and made the documentary as thegranddaddy of all movies and TV programs today, when the LumiereBrothers began the film practice at the first time since1895.The filmNaNuKe in the north was made by RobertJ.Flaherty, marks the birth ofthe anthropology television documentary.In the1990s, under the international background of cross-culturalcommunication, film and TV experienced a transformation from theearliest political and enlightenment culture to mass entertainmentculture.Previous cognitive function and education function of film andtelevision culture are reduced gradually, while the function of sensorystimulation, games, entertainment, and other functions are strengthened.On this occasion, documentary narrative style also changed, graduallytransforming to documentary narrative feature films from news andspecial report which began at the seventies. With pursuing some narrativemeans such as common, story, fragmentation and building suspense,documentary expression is in line with international standards,.With the rapid development in recent years, the Chinesedocumentary has already broken through the creation of the previousmodel, and has explored their own way to develop, forming their creativefeatures and aesthetic style.2012was known as the first year of theChinese documentary brand, because in that year CCTV documentarychannel was premiered. Documentary A Bite of China sold and wasbroadcast in more than60countries and regions through cluster mode, which aroused strong repercussions both in China and abroad. Thisprogram is of great significance to the long-term development of China’sdocumentary.This thesis attempts from the perspective of aesthetics toanalyze aesthetic sense of A Bite of China under the contemporaryInternet age and the context of globalization spread. In this thesis, authoralso analyzes the aesthetic style with Chinese characteristics and itssignificance and value from the creative aspects. On the basis of a seriesof document theory, this thesis provides a certain theoretical support forthe Chinese documentary in the aspect of building China’s image and thedissemination of Chinese culture.The first chapter outlines the development history of China’s macro-documentary, a general description of the various stages of the productionof the documentary history of the environment and the creation of features, documentaries and thus combing the emergence and rapid developmentof China’s overall context.The second chapter mainly analyzes the environment of Chinesedocumentary which is under the contemporary cross-culturalcommunication. At first, this paper introduces the traditional way toexpress Chinese culture, which contains the western hegemony prejudiceand understanding of China;then, this chapter states Chinese documentarychannel will face survival plight, ratings supremacy phenomenon, andpursing entertainment effect under the mass culture context.This chapteralso introduces the historical mission of Chinese documentary to buildand spread China’s national image.From the third chapter to the fifth chapter, author analysesdocumentary A Bite of China in details, and sums up from the analysis ofcreative features and multiple aesthetic style, Chinese documentaryshould create with Chinese characteristics,expression the Chinese wayand represent the contemporary China under the international context ofdocumentary.The sixth Chapter gives the assurance of localization andglobalization of Chinese future documentary, deems that establishingindustrial building is an inevitable trend of brand of homebred documentary localization, but also express in China on the basis of theglobalization of cross-cultural communication.It should be said that the documentary not only simply records thevarious regions of the Chinese nation and people’s life, but also reflectsthe overall image and progress of contemporary Chinese society.Chinesedocumentary expresses China in the Chinese way,and represents thecontemporary socialist China, at the same time, depicts China’s brightfuture for the Chinese people of all ethnic groups and around the world aswell.
