Vanity Fair, a masterpiece of Thackeray’s, is one of the outstanding representatives of English Critical realism. This novel is rather unique because of its characteristics of culture, time, writing style and so on. As a result, it embraces many difficulties to translate it. Vanity Fair enjoys several Chinese translations done by different people, among which Yang Bi’s version is referred to as the most highly regarded and influential one.
