Beijing is the center of policy, economy, and culture of China since the Ming and Qing Dynasty, where bachelors, merchants, passers and travelers were gathered. Guild halls and Clansmen Association were coexist when the Republic of China began, which were the vital nexus between the fellows in Beijing. For Mongolian, this kind of organizations were not valued because of its politics of princes and dukes and the difference with inland. In the Republic of China, social organizations were needed by the Mongolian living in Beijing underthebackgroundofsocial transition. So the Clansmen Association of Mongolian traveling in Peking established. It was at work on affairs in Mongol, Beijing and also the whole China.The researches on the Clansmen Association of Mongolian traveling in Peking are limited on activities. There is no writing about its reasons of founding, internal system, purpose, members, political participation, social assistance and so on. Based on archives in Beijing archives, this paper tries to make a comprehensive study on these aspects.This paper mainly studies on the aspects of the Clansmen Association of Mongolian traveling in Peking, the establishment, internal system, important members, and also the political participation and social assistance.The first part mainly discusses process of transition from Beijing association to townsman association in modern times. It elaborates the importance to establish the Clansmen Association of Mongolian traveling in Peking in two ways:reasons Mongolian came to Peking and the increase in the number.The second part analyzes its internal system on the basis of the archives. And the situation to recommence after Anti-Japanese War.The third part discusses the Association’s role in society, focusing onthe political participation, social assistance and social relief activities of the Association. It is of important referential significance on history. Based on all of above, the paper indicates influence that the Clansmen Association of Mongolian traveling in Peking had made as spokesman of the Mongol. So it is part of the modern history of Mongolia. At the same time, it was also very important on relationships between Mongolian living in Beijing.
