Practice Report On Simulated Interpretation For Nanning International Sister City Forum

This paper is based on a simulated interpretation practice on November 3,2020 under the theme of the 2017 Nanning International Sister City Forum.It is an English-Chinese simultaneous interpretation.The interpretation process is relatively smooth,yet the author needs to rise to the challenges of accent interference.This report focuses on how to cope with challenges in simultaneous interpretation with text and improve the quality of the target language under the pressure of non-native English accents.This report includes five parts.The first part is the task description,involving this practice’s task characteristics and requirements.The second part is the description of the interpretation process,including preparations for this practice and the on-site performance.The author made a detailed introduction to the preparations with the accents adaptation training as its center.The third part is the case analyses.In this part,the author introduced the definition and characteristics of the simultaneous interpretation with text first.Then,under the guidance of the Interpretative Theory,the author analyzed some cases with interpretation techniques such as conversion,omission and segmentation,and put forward coping strategy for improving interpretation under the pressure of listening comprehension.In the fourth part,the author reflected on the flaws and what can be promoted in this practice.Combined with the experience and lessons,the author propounds a series of suggestions for future interpreting training.The last chapter is a comprehensive summary of this practice.Based on the Interpretative Theory,this paper has outlined techniques of interpretation that can be applied to solve relevant issues arising in this practice,featuring universal significance and a particular reference significance for the same type of interpreting practice.
