Because of the differences of history, tradition, values, social organization, customs and habits, social system, etc, different cultures were formed between Chinese and English. Different meaning of "Rang" was produced in their respective culture contexts. There are many papers about Chinese Comity Culture as well as the Britain’s gentleman Culture in domestic and international academic circles. But few papers presented a comprehensive analysis and pectination of "Rang" during the Traditional Chinese Culture and Britain’s gentleman Culture. Therefore, the analysis and comparison of "Rang" during the two cultures was presented in this study, with the hope of promoting the understanding of the different cultures between Chinese and English.In this article, cultural facts were interpreted by the analysis and observations of language. Many data have been collected, organized and evaluated. Comparative analysis and philosophical dialectics methods were used to identify the human nature, great and lofty things in the word of "Rang" in the two different cultures. In addition, some differences were found to deepen the understanding of the essence of culture and spirit and promote cultural exchanges between Chinese and English people.This paper could be divided into four parts. The word of "Rang" reflecting the meaning of cultural factors was analyzed in the first part, as well as the China’s comity in the culture of "Rang" was discussed. The second part discussed the British gentleman culture as well as the meaning of "Rang" in this culture. The similarities and differences of "Rang" between the two cultures were analyzed in the third part. Last, conclusions were made in the fourth part.This paper aims at guiding people to treat the two cultures and civilizations with a tolerant attitude. There are some differences in the two cultures, but no strengths and weaknesses exist. Both of them are humanity’s common property. Not only it is necessary to understand the similarities and differences, but also it is worth to seek common ground while putting aside differences. Cultural differences inevitably affect the cross-cultural communication. Understanding and cooperation, as well as to respect and understand the manner and value concept between the two groups of countries should be promoted. Minimizing cultural conflicts and obstacles is worth for making a smooth cross-cultural communication.
