The report is mainly about the reflective research on the translation of the source text related to offshore wind power under the guidance of the Skopos theory. The text introduces some basic information about offshore wind power, and summarizes the conditions and relative technology in this area. The translation of the text is a branch of translation of articles for science and technology, of which the stylistic, lexical and syntactic characteristics are greatly different from other types of translation. In this kind of translation practice, great attention should be paid to both accurate expression of original information and proper use of words, especially terminology. According to the basic principle of Skopos theory, the purpose of translation process decides the strategies we choose, and on the basis of analysis of the source text and the target text, the report is trying to broaden the application areas of Skopos theory through analyzing the problems in the translation practice and giving a better solution respectively. At the same time, some corresponding strategies and methods are explored to give a better instruction to translation of articles for science and technology. The structure of the report can be generalized as follows. Firstly, it briefly introduces the background and content of the source text and significance of this translation practice. Secondly, a concise analysis of the source text is made, mainly including its stylistic, lexical and syntactic characteristics. Also, it introduces preparation work for the translation process. The third part, the main part of the report, introduces some typical problems in the translation process and comes up with some corresponding solutions. Lastly, an analysis for the above problems is conducted, and then the author makes a brief conclusion on lessons and experiences and some problems to be solved in the translation process to better prepare for future translation. In the translation process, based on characteristics of the text, in order to keep the styles of the source text and the target text similar, many translation strategies and methods, such as literal translation, free translation, conversion, and division are adopted to better complete the translation task. Finally, the author hopes that the reflective research on this translation process could give references to future translation process of the author and contribute to other translation amateurs.
