“National standard” is the national unified technical requirement, which is of great significance to the national economy and technological development. With the proposal of the “the Belt and Road” initiative, the “standard” has played a role in promoting Chinese enterprises to “go global”,and with it comes the need to translate national standards. The development of wind power industry has made a qualitative leap with the continuous reform and innovation of science and technology.Wind power generation is one of the national key energy fields, and translating the national standards of wind turbines has become an urgent and important task.As a national standard in the field of electric power, the Wind Turbines-Safety Manuals is a scientific and technical text, which requires translators to have coherent logic, accurate and rigorous thinking, objective statements, and clear and concise expression. Therefore, the translator chooses skopos theory as the basic theory, and translates the national standard with different methods of translation, which is helpful to understand the different thinking ways and expression between Chinese and English,so as to achieve the communication purpose. The methods of research in this practice report are literature research and case analysis. The literature review is divided into the introduction of skopos theory and the application of skopos theory in translation.Guided by the skopos theory of translation, this report mainly discusses the translation of national standards by different translation methods through the analysis of the characteristics of language and scientific and technical text. The case study will analyze the application of skopos theory in national standard translation from the lexical level, syntactic level and textual level. At the lexical level,I studied the translation of technical words and part of speech conversion. At the syntactic level,I studied the translation of passive voice and formal subject. The cohesion and coherence were studied from the textual level. From the perspective of skopos theory, the corresponding translation strategies and methods are selected according to the characteristics of different translated words and sentences. From the perspective of translation theory, this translation practice report studies how to use appropriate translation methods to deal with words and sentences in national standards, hoping to provide some experience for translators who are about to translate national standards for wind turbines and other similar texts and translators who are engaged in the science and technology translation in the future.
