Translation theories, as a guide for practice, have been a focus of study for quite a fewscholars. In addition, masterpieces which involve much of the thoughts advanced by scholarsof translation studies are useful tools for translation learners to have a more profoundunderstanding of it. Therefore, the thesis is based on the translation practice of TranslationCriticism: The Potentials&Limitations, one of the “original series of books on translationstudies” introduced by Shanghai Foreign Education Press. A number of findings are quotedfrom quite a few scholars in this thesis, with regard to the parataxis of Chinese, hypotaxis ofEnglish, differences of these two languages as well as their guiding point for bilingualtranslation practice. More are included about the translationese, such as its causes, featuresand ways to overcome. The thesis aims to describe and analyze the problems encountered anddiscuss how to deal with them with the guidance of those theories. In the major part, Chapter4, some experiences were analyzed by expressing some ideas about the problems oftranslationese in the dimensions of vocabulary, sentence, passage and logic from theperspective of differences between English and Chinese in hypotaxis and parataxis.
