| As people pay increasing attention to both mental and physical health, thesubject of health psychology has a more and more important role to play. Therefore,the translation about health psychology seems more practically meaningful. Thesource text of this translation report, Health Promotion:Changing Health Behaviours,is from Chapter Eight of Health Psychology(fifth edition), the author of which is JaneOgden, a psychological professor in Britain. The source text mainly describes healthbehaviour-changing strategies with some psychological theories as the basis.This translation report consists of four parts: task description, translation process,case study and conclusion. The first part provides a description about the source textand its author. The second part introduces the preparation work before translating,difficulties solved during the translation process and the polishing and finalizing ofthe translation. Scientific style as the original text is, the language is formal andprecise; besides, there are long sentences and many psychological terms in theoriginal text. The translator did a lot of preparation work to decide which translationskills are appropriate, and then began the translation. The third part describes specificstrategies used in the translation through typical cases of translation, such as diversion,conversion, the change of the voices and amplification. The final part is a summaryabout what the translator has learned from the scientific translation practice. |
