In the process of teaching a foreign language vocabulary, we find that the idiom is generally difficultfor overseas students to learn and to master. Its reason is that the idiom is a vivid integration of Chineselanguage.It has not only a wide range of subjects and complex types, but also has a rich social life breath.The Idiom teaching is more advanced vocabulary teaching, mainly in senior foreign language classes. Theproper use of idioms can reflect the learning ability of overseas students.The research of idiom has a long time, and it has a variety of classifications. Based on the plantidioms from one clue, this thesis tries to find out the problems through students’learning process of theidiom and solve them and then sum the corresponding learning strategy from it..This paper is divided into five chapters.The first chapter discusses the significance of the topic of this writing, the current research statusand methods of idioms and foreign language teaching idioms;The second chapter introduces the meaning ofidioms and discusses the definition of idioms at first, and then tells the definition, sources,distribution in theidiom structure and cultural connotations of several special plants; The third chapter explores theproduction of mistakes,type and cultural reasons in teaching idioms of foreign language through theanalysis of the problems in the questionnaire, which is based on the students of2013advanced classes,postgraduate classes in International School for Chinese Language and Culture of Henan University and isdesigned for the questionnaire of plant idioms; The fourth chapter discusses the strategic approach tointernational students in the acquisition of idioms;The fifth chapter is the conclusion, describing theproblems of writing, the inadequateness of this research, and the author’s outlook for teaching idioms.This paper introduces some plants that have special meanings and analyze its culture through aclassification of idioms which takes the plant idioms as a breakthrough point, in order to help internationalstudents better learn Chinese idioms.
