As one of practical texts, science articles play an indispensable role in the transmissionand communication of knowledge of science and technology which is also the first priority ofscientific translation. As a result, it requires accuracy in content, preciseness in structure, andclearness in concept. What is more, scientific translation pursues something like “likelihood”in its function concerning original text. The most remarkable feature and difficulty ofscientific translation lie in its specialized vocabulary, univocal meaning, long sentences, complex structure, etc. Analyzing from the case of translation on Internet of Things, this paperexplores translation criterion of science articles, making a probe into translation skills of longdifficult as well as professional vocabulary processing. For the purpose of accuratecommunication of knowledge of science and technology, target text shall show equivalence tooriginal text in expression. For this reason, both texts “match” each other as close as possible, which coincides with “functional equivalence” theory put forward by Eugene Nida. Besides, compared with “faithfulness and elegance” of literary translation, scientific translation shalladhere to “faithfulness and expressiveness”. This paper researches from theories and practiceof scientific translation in hope of providing feasible reference for learners and translators.
