This paper is a Chinese translation version and report based on the documentary GreatContinental Railway Journeys Switzerland issued by BBC.With the continuous strengthening of cultural exchanges among China and foreigncountries, more and more foreign films and television works have appeared in China’s screen. In light of Chinese and western cultural differences, translators should respect the culturalconvention of the target language during the process of listening and translation.Reconstruction of the lexical cohesion in the original text can contribute to translationequivalence and achieve the effect of culture communication. This documentary is anintroduction of the culture landscape of Switzerland, which inevitably would cause cross-cultural communication obstacles due to the differences in history, society, religion, value ofthe two countries. On the one hand, the translated version should make the audience getsimilar feeling with the source culture audience and easily accept and understand when theyare watching. On the other hand, the translator also hope the retaining of the foreign culturestyle can give the audience an experience of other cultures. In conclusion, it’s necessary forthe translator to combine domestication and foreignization principles together. Thus in orderto seek a balance in the foreignization and domestication, we should take both the readingability of the target audience and the curiosity about the foreign culture into consideration. Therefore, this thesis attempts to make some contributions to the cross-culturalcommunication in the form of translation.
