As a report on the English-Chinese consecutive interpreting (E-C CI), this dissertationdescribes one CI task conducted by the author at the2013Sports for All Certified LeadershipCourse and analyzes the interpreting of the lecture delivered by Mr. Singh, a lecturer of the CertifiedLeadership Course. This dissertation discusses typical difficulties in E-C CI as well as possiblecoping strategies and solutions.The report describes preparation details the author did in the phase of pre-interpreting andconcludes that through pre-interpreting preparation, some mistakes and troubles could beeliminated or avoided during the following interpreting.In the dissertation of task description and analysis, the report reaches some conclusions:1.Theproper methods of handling unexpected situation.2. How to communicate with speaker innonverbal ways to acquire a good interpreting point.3. Proper way of effort distribution in theprocess of interpreting.The task description and analysis further prove pre-interpreting preparation isessential---efficient preparation before the task is the key to successful interpreting. And the effortdistribution is quite important. Interpreters are suggested to resort to different types of effortdistribution according to the length of the information, that is to say, focusing on the information processing and output. Interpreters are suggested to output information by using some strategies likesyntactic linearity and so on.
