In recent years, the global impact of the pandemic has resulted in significant changes in the way of holding cross-border and cross-regional academic exchanges. With the rise of online lecture platforms, students now have easy access to various lecture resources that are closely related to their lives.Translations such as foreign language online academic forums and lectures are also popular. The interpreting material of How to Write:A Guide to the Practice of Writing Theory Papers is an online lecture during this time. The lecture aimed to guide students in writing academic papers, helping students master writing methods and understand frameworks of papers in foreign periodicals. To complete the practice of interpretation,Gile’s Effort Model(a simultaneous interpretation model)was used as the guiding theory. This model is composed of three parts: listening and analysis effort,short-term memory effort, and production effort.According to Gile, for the interpreter to complete the interpretation task, these three efforts must be coordinated to achieve optimal balance. This report analyzed the interpreting process based on the three effort-making phases and identified some problems, such as unidentified phonemes and words in the listening process, working memory limitations in the memory process, and incomplete sentences in the production process. The interpreting practice proved that the optimal allocation of efforts depends on the reasonable use of the three efforts. To save efforts in listening and analysis,short-term memory, and production,an interpreter should be fully prepared in the pre-interpreting phase and learn to store information in chunks.Additionally, the interpreter should accumulate more by abundant input and practice, and master interpreting techniques such as simplification, omission, and division to enhance interpreting practices. This practice report serves as an example of the practical significance of using Gile’s Effort Model to guide interpretation practice. It helps the interpreters practice in a more targeted way in interpreting training and improve the interpreter’s interpreting ability.
