With the reform in education field, more and more people hope to borrow theexcellent ideas of foreign country. Therefore, more and more classic foreign books areintroduced into Chinese education field. As a popular classic in the language testingfield, Testing for Language Teachers has never been translated in to Chinese before.This book gives readers a detailed introduction to the theory and methods of testing anddifferent testing styles. After months of efforts, the author has translated the ChapterFive Reliability, Chapter Six Achieving Beneficial Backwash and Chapter Seven Stagesof Test Development of this book from English to Chinese.Based on the translation text, the author writes this report which includes four parts:project introduction, source text introduction, case analysis and summary. In the part ofcase analysis, the author has discussed the difficulties and the major translation skills inthis translation process under the guidance of Relevance Translation Theory. Accordingto the Relevance Translation Theory, one good translation can not only convey theoriginal author’s intention but also can meet the readers’ cognitive context, which canmake the readers spend minimal processing effort. Through this translation practice, theauthor thinks that the Relevance Translation Theory can guide the translation of foreignlanguage education literature. This paper summarizes some helpful translation skills inEnglish-Chinese translation of foreign language education literature, and provides someadvice for the English-Chinese translation practice of foreign language educationliterature. The author hopes those skills and advice can be a great help to the research ofEnglish-Chinese translation of foreign language education literature in the future.
