China is a cultural country which also has a long history. In ancient China,the Chinese had created countless cultural treasures which made greatcontributions to the development of the world. The essence of the culture wasmanifested by the form of creation. The culture always manifested on thematerial form. it is a record of the development of productive forces. So themeaning study on the folk toys has significant senses, on the one hand it providesthe originality for the industrial designation, the other sense is that we couldprotect traditional forms.The paper has the following parts, first is the analysis of exterior appearance,the Shaanxi folk toys has these features, one of the features is that the produceralways used bright colors and always used the bird or flower or other auspiciouspatterns to decorated the toys. second is study on the meaning of the culture. Tostudy the folk toys in the perspective of functionality, entertainment is the basicfunctionality, also, the toys are the reflection of the totemism. The totemism is acultural belief which existing in different countries. The ancient people treatedthe plants or animals as the ancestor, and uses these patterns to decorate the toys,this was the ancient decorations. the other functionality of the toys is carrier ofthe culture. After I summarized the features of the toys, I tried to design a set ofchildren toys, first I analyzed the psychological and behavioral characteristics ofdifferent ages, and determined the product location as the ages of3~6.The paper summarized the features of the Shaanxi folk toys. on the whole,there was’t too much study on this issue. Then i designed a set of ChineseZodiac.
