Historic sites are precious legacy left to human being in history. They reflect thesocial life, social relations, and the natural rebuilding and utilization of human being ina specific historical period. As an important carrier of cultural development in China,historic sites, with its important status, have become a cultural essence of China.In recent years, with an increasing understanding of historic sites, people from allaround the world pay close attention to the historic site resources due to the increasingvalue of history and culture, scientific research, artistic appreciation, biologicalenvironment, economic resources as well as the expansion of tourist market in historicsites. However, due to huge development difficulty, poor perception and experience ofcultural relic resources, the tourism product development has not been carried out within-depth research, let alone systematic development theory as well as philosophy pattern.Therefore, this article, under the research subject of tourism product development forcultural relic resources, will establish the optimal ideas and models oriented by relevanttheories and based on own attributes and tourists needs, aiming at providing importantreference and guidance for scientific and rational development for national relic tourismproducts in the future.This paper elaborates the content according to four major parts:Part one is the introduction of Chapter I, introducing the object, purpose,significance, research method and relevant domestic and oversea research trends of thesubject research so as to establish a complete and clear background for the discussion offollowing chapters.Part Two consists of Chapter II and III, for specific analysis of research object. Firstof all, this part elaborates related concepts and theory basis, defines research scope aswell as lays theoretical basis for the whole article. Then cultural relic resources will besystematically classified based on their own characteristics so as to propose basicfeatures of relic tourism resources.Part Three is Chapter IV, which emphasize on successful cases and advantages ofdifferent kinds of cultural relics at home and abroad, including ancient site of Pompeii in Italy, Japanese Nailiang Pingcheng Palace Ruins, Jinsha Ruins in Sichuan, QujiangRuins in Xi’an.Part Four is Chapter V and is the core part of this article, integrating the aforesaidtheoretical foundation and methods with realities, to propose development ideas ofcultural relic resources tourism. Meanwhile, development plan of such mature relicresource tourism products as heritage park, museum of ancient ruins, historic districtsand cultural relic industrial park will be proposed, according to own characteristics ofcultural relics, surrounding environment, tourist needs and other factors, in order toprovide reference and guidance for tourism protection, development and utilization ofnational relics.
